Little Foodie Club's Baby Meal: Serve Warm

Our turkey purée, just like the majority of our vegetable and protein-based purées, is designed to be served warm rather than cold. Our little meals tend to taste so much better a little warmed up, which also improves the texture of many of them. So what’s the best way of warming up our purées?

MICROWAVE:
This is by far the easiest and most convenient method. Simply transfer the amount of food you will be heating to a microwave safe container, cover to seal in moisture and heat in 15 second increments. Microwaves can heat food unevenly so always stir the food well after heating and test the temperature before feeding it to your baby. And by the way: contrary to common belief, microwaves don’t zap the goodness fromfood – in fact, some experts believe that food actually holds onto more nutrients in amicrowave.

WATERBATH:
However, if you want to avoid using a microwave, another way to successfully warm our food for your baby is to transfer it into a heat safe dish and place this over a small pan of simmering water, aka a bain-marie. Again, you’ll need to stir the food often toensure it heats evenly.
