October is of course the month of the ubiquitous pumpkin. But right now broccoli is at its absolute best, too. “Broccoli is delish,” says Zoe, our friend from the Garden Of at the Hollywood Farmers Market. “All the cruciferous veggies, like broccoli or cauliflower, are happiest when they go through a bit of cooler weather. The farm had a few light frosts and the flavor of the broccoli is intensified after this happens.” At Little Foodie Club we’re pureeing broccoli on its own for our 21 Days To Solids plans and blending it with fellow super foods, apples and quinoa, for a nutrient dense meal in our regular meal plans right now. And at Big Foodie Club, we like to devour crisply roasted broccolini with a bit of olive oil, sea salt and red pepper flakes.
